Lean Finely Textured Beef, known as Pink Slime by some, is still being served in cafeterias nationwide, despite awareness campaigns and media uproar. LFTB is amonia-treated meat, and reduces costs by about 3%. When serving millions of meals, this small reduction definitely adds up for schools. The millions of children who receive a free or reduced-cost meal as part of the National School Lunch Program, have no choice really in what they’re eating. Moreover, this meal is many children’s only consistent and reliable source of food.  Is the bottom line worth poisoning the nation’s future?
